The Judges Library is a cosy cottage with a modern feel; ideally situated to enjoy historic Carmarthen (Wales oldest town). Converted by Architect Lindsay and Therapist Jackie, we are just inside the old town wall; with thick stone walls and bedrooms at the rear the cottage can be a quiet retreat, yet its only a few hundred yards from cafe culture and shops, cinema and theatre, and it has a Kitchen. Carmarthen is the gateway town to rural and coastal West Wales, and well served by buses and trains that run to Beaches, Castles and other main attractions. There are plenty of places to go on day trips.

For the adventurous the Wales coastal path  is across the road at the bottom of the street, running alongside the River Towy. Being inside the historic district there is no private parking, but plenty of public parking close by in the Castle and at the train and bus stations. For an Eco holiday why not ditch the car, arrive by train and make the most of this accessible location.

There is enough to satisfy all the senses here, and we hope you will also enjoy the original artwork and handcrafted features, and there is excellent internet and 4K Smart TV.

Exceeded every expectation

The Judge’s Library, and my hosts, exceeded every expectation, and my expectations were high. Cosy, comfortable, with modern amenities and the feeling that the whole history of Carmarthen/Moridunum is at hand. Perfect for exploring, the weather even (mostly) cooperated. I hiked, ate, shopped, and slept in perfect comfort.

Wishes Granted

We came to Carmarthen for two whole weeks, to ‘pretend’ we lived there, to be with and meet people from a moderate sized town like ours in the USA and we were not disappointed. The Judges Library was so very quaint to see, a stone cottage on the very old street in the oldest city in Wales. Upon opening the blue door, the comfort, design and welcoming spirit of this home engulfed us. In the days that followed, the town did the same thing—engulfed us and welcomed us. We met so many friendly and kind people. Jim and I are in our 70’s. We purposely declined a car rental, wanting to immerse ourselves in the local manner of getting around. So many folks offered advice or help as we lived our two week long public transportation style vacation. No matter how far we walked in a day, the Judges Library offered us calm and recuperation and peace. We have been married almost 50 years, so understand how perfect this home was, we spent wonderful together time; the cottage allowed us separate relaxing and reading spaces as well. We cannot remember a trip where we miss the accommodations, the people and the neighborhood so much. Let go of sight-seeing as a priority and reach out for this location for people-meeting.

Amazing location in the heart of Carmarthen town

A proper Welsh pub at the top of the road (noise isn't an issue from this), and plenty of foody places to visit within a few minutes walk. Car parking a station reasonablely priced - just keep an eye on the weather forecast. Extra touches made it so welcoming. Will definitely stay again when in Carmarthen for both business and pleasure. I could have easily stayed for longer. Hosts are great at getting back to you quickly and are really attentive. Thanks again for a lovely stay!

Highly recommend

This is a great little place in the centre of Carmarthen, close to lovely independent shops and places with great coffee! Lindsay and Jackie's communication was always clear and I felt informed and welcomed. Highly recommend.

No need for a car - A perfect location in the ancient town center, easily accessible.

Nicely appointed with art and furnishings, stocked with treats and equipment for cooking. Modern plumbing and wonderful shower. Netflix too!

Perfect if you want to be right in the middle of town

Over the years of renting accommodation this has been the best placed, if you needed to nip back to the cottage for something it was literally a stones throw from anywhere in town. Everything was included in the accommodation that you needed, ie Netflix, coffee, tea, milk, cutlery etc, even a few extras ;) Hosts were contactable & were really good at recommendations for us who were new to the area, plus they were really nice & friendly. Bedroom was perfectly placed within the accommodation at the back & it was lovely & quiet plus very comfortable. I didn't like leaving ;) In all seriousness there isn't anything to dislike , perfect location, really interesting town, really comfortable accommodation ... There was only one issue prior to arrival of parking but this was easily solved by parking at the train station which was only a few minutes walk away & you can pay for as many days as you like in one go.

The cottage is very clean and an enjoyable place to stay.

We stayed at Lindsay and Jackies’ for 4 nights. The location is great for exploring the surrounding area. Check in was very easy with a lockbox. Lindsay and Jackie were great hosts, wonderful local knowledge, quick to reply and the thoughtful touches around the house were much appreciated!

Cosy comfy cottage

Nice quiet cottage, which was clean and cosy. lovely and cool despite the hot day. I liked the boutique shops, sitting outside at Lorenzos Bar, and having lunch at Pethau Da after check out. The Bus station was just around the corner, but It was a shame the Bus service was not good on a Sunday, so I didn't go to the beach, but enjoyed a walk along the river.

We had a wonderful stay at The Judges library and we can't wait to there stay again.

The judges library was the perfect little stay in heart of Carmarthen, the property was clean and inviting with great facilities. The bedroom was spacious and light and the bed was very cosy and comfortable. We loved the decoration of the property, particularly the kitchen breakfast bar and the bathroom was gorgeous! It had wonderful little quirky furniture which we loved! We would highly recommend it!!!

A fab stay in a stylish cottage in the middle of Carmarthen a short walk from the train station

Loved the location, it was smack bang in the middle of town. There was no problems at all, everything was great during our stay
